Harry leads the way into Horswell Channel just off Pipers Lagoon north of Departure Bay in Nanaimo. 

Why is everyone laughing at the chunky guy with the too-small white cap?

Further out, in Horswell Channel, we note that the BC Ferry appears headed in our direction -- Whoops! 

Let's just get the hell out of the way, OK!

Seals? Of course! 

Rock formations so typical of the Gulf Islands. 

Some very unique species inhabit the rocky islets off Vancouver Island OR Some people can't resist making asses of themselves. 

Land! At last! From the ferry, these islands look like mere rocks, of little interest. In actuality, there's so much to see and explore. 

Horswell Channel off Nanaimo

In August of 2003, Roy and I had an opportunity to go kayaking in Horswell Channel, off Nanaimo, with Harry and some of his Malaspina College buddies.
